Business Developer
Reports to: President
Purpose:
- Identify and develop new business opportunities and new clients for SWSG.
- Identify new products, services and lines of business.
- Develop marketing and sales strategies to help grow SWSG’s business.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Develop, execute, and oversee a business strategy that prioritizes growth and positive customer ratings.
- Develop strategies to attract new customers and engage existing ones.
- Use his/her communication skills to cultivate strong relationships with customers, from first contact until he/she closes the deal. Continue developing the relationships afterwards for repeat business.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to identify and pursue new market opportunities, expand the client base, and achieve sales.
- Identify new business opportunities, including new markets, new clients, new partnerships.
- Maintain relationships with existing clients.
- Work closely with the President and senior leadership on business growth strategies.
- Develop new business areas, sales markets and products. This includes new customers and partners.
- Generate forecasts to identify future trends.
- Find and develop new markets and improve sales.
- Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events.
- Develop quotes and proposals for clients.
- Identify and research opportunities that come up in new and existing markets.
- Prepare and deliver pitches and presentations to potential new clients.
- Create and develop a strategy with quantifiable goals and action plans before developing a business.
- Create business plans and strategies.
- Identify and secure new market shares.

- Evaluate current sales performance and identify ways SWSG can expand and grow.
- Prepare financial projections and sales targets.
- Attend events such as exhibitions and conferences.
- Prepare and participate in sales presentations.

- Train, mentor and support SWSG team members on business development.
- Help SWSG obtain better brand recognition and financial growth.
- Analyze current and past financial data, such as sales reports, and provide strategies to cut costs and increase revenue.
- Perform market research to identify new opportunities and engage with SWSG executives to establish strategies for pursuing those new opportunities.
- Create and improve proposals for SWSG’s existing and new clients.
- Prepare business development budget and continually track expenses, as well as make sure SWSG is on track to hit revenue targets.
- Develop and deliver pitches for potential investors.
- Network with investors and other business partners to generate new leads.

Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a business developer role.
- U.S. Citizen with a valid U.S. passport and Driver’s License.
- Comprehensive contact list and strong relationships, particularly with data centers, mission-critical facilities, and federal government individuals / prospective clients.
- Ability to travel to see clients, explore new markets, and attend conferences, meetings, events, and conventions.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Education: Minimum 4-year degree in business administration, marketing, finance, or a related field. A minor in psychology is desirable but not required.
Work location: Preferably in SWSG’s Herndon Virginia office. Can be open anywhere within the U.S.
Other: Will have preferably served as a business developer in an architectural, engineering, or construction business.
