Junior Structural Engineer
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to the Discipline Leader of Structural Engineering
Duties & Responsibilities: This role involves assisting in the development of comprehensive construction documents, ensuring that all technical specifications and design elements are accurately represented. The position requires close collaboration with in-house architects and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) engineers, as well as project managers, to align project goals and streamline the design process. Additionally, it includes engaging with contractors to facilitate effective communication and coordination on-site, ensuring that project timelines and quality standards are met.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Design structural systems, including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and cold-formed steel.
- Develop and produce detailed construction documents using AutoCAD (required) and Revit (preferred).
- Learn and apply knowledge of cold-formed steel framing design in various projects.
Education: BS in Civil Engineering, Structural emphasis. Master’s degrees preferred.
License: EIT certification or ability to pass the EIT within a year.
Experience: 0-1+ years of experience in structural design (new graduates welcome).
Work location: Office, Herndon Virginia.
